Follow Friday

Friday Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.  Each week a different question is posted by our hosts and we wil answer!  This is a great opportunity for bloggers to network and interact.
This week’s question –

Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you’ve done, that as you gained more experience you were like — oops?

I hate to admit this but I tend to take on too much.  Believe it or not, it's hard to turn new books away so I'll often take on too many and I can't read them all in time.  So there are a chosen few that make it to the review stage and so many that are still on my TBR list.  The same goes with taking on too many tasks.  We have a little meme called - Shoutout to Indies.  Maybe you've heard of it?  My biggest blogger sin was accepting a book for promotion and giveaway and not doing enough to promote the title.  When it came to the giveaway the numbers were measly and the author did rat me out for lagging in my efforts.  I deserved it but I felt like I had just been thrown in the doghouse.  Lesson learned!

  2. I hate that feeling when you now you could have done more to promote or whatever. But sometimes as you say you just take to many things on at the same time.

  3. So guilty! I take on books too but then life gets in the way and I feel terrible for not being able to read them in a timely manner. I just finished one from over a year ago! The author was nice about it though since book 2 is about to come out.

  5. Ooh, I'm guilty of something similar. When I first started out, I was too eager to accept review books from indie authors. Now I still have a few that I haven't gotten around to reading and reviewing! I feel terrible, but hopefully I'll get around to them before the year mark.

  6. I learned very early on to decline gently if somebody asked me about reviewing their book and I wasn't interested. But then again, I learned a long time ago to not feel bad to say no. It's a life lesson that'll save so much stress in the long run.

  9. I really liked your answer. I used to take on too much reading, where all I would do is read and blog and I felt overloaded at times. Now I try to be a bit more balanced, and only review books for authors that I am really interested in and feel I can have time for.
