Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

I had a lot of fun reading Losing It and was laughing out loud in several places.  It sits squarely in the New Adult genre that is now appearing and which I'm beginning to really enjoy.

Bliss was a cute character, tied up with the idea that she must be the only living girl going to college still a virgin.  Her various antics while trying to lose her 'V card' were at times funny, sad and pathetic, but I enjoyed the humour.  Who knew it was so difficult to lose it!  Garrick was a good looking Brit who just happens to fall into a job as a theatre professor, and this was perhaps the only bit I didn't really like - Brits just can't get jobs that easily in the States, or in Canada for that matter.  There a little thing called a work visa that is really hard to come by. - but I was able to get over it because the story itself was so good.

The relationship between Garrick and Bliss was full of laughs and one liners and I found Ms Cormack's writing style to be tight and easy to read. Not too over the top and not explicit (that I remember anyway). Sometimes Garrick could be a bit macho for my tastes, but his good points far outweighed his bad. There were no big surprises here, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back and enjoy the read, and that's what I did with Losing It

Would I read more by her?  Certainly.  Recommended for readers who love light-hearted contemps.

  1. I've been very curious about Losing It. I've heard a few people say it's quite funny and I love me some funny books. I definitely need to check it out.

Also, about the work visa. I agree! My cousin moved to Canada, and he couldn't get a job for months and months and months waiting for his work visa. He was set to move back to NY for a little while, but he finally got the visa. Talk about stressful.

  2. Sounds good. I would like to read this one at some time -- just the title and premise have me intrigued. Glad it's funny too.
