The Bourne movies come to mind- I tried reading the books once but like a lot of older spy thrillers they seemed kind of boring, I didn't get very far. The movies though I thought were good. I don't like anyone putting any ideas in my head about what the setting or characters are supposed to look like. I like to let my imagination come up with that while I'm reading. That's a big part of the reading experience for me, and once I've seen the movie, that's gone. Every time I read an Alex Cross novel, I see Morgan Freeman as Alex (although I LOVE Morgan Freeman!) And now they have a "new" Alex.
