Do you judge a book by it’s cover?
Yes, we both do. However, the first impression is the one that will get readers to purchase the book. Most of the time this is visual appeal (or a really good review). If a book has an interesting looking cover, I am more likely to pick it up and read the summary. How about you? Do you also judge a book by it's cover?

Pretty, shiny covers can grab my attention pretty quickly, but they aren't enough to make me buy a book. A good cover can get me to take a closer look, but it's what's inside that gets me to the check out line with the book in my hand. Here from the Hop!
ReplyDeleteWhile covers are nice, the first thing I look at is the author's name. Next I look at the book blurb. I would think that a nice cover would encourage me to pick up a book in a bookstore bur I do most of my book buying online. Just hopping by to say hello! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYou're right Christinabean, I do judge by the cover, but I'm more likely not to buy/read a book with a bad cover - I'm sorry, I know it's terrible but I can't help myself. I'm still trying to get past the cover of 'Shiver' and I've brought it home 4 times now (although everyone else seems to love it). I'm going to try listening to it and see if that makes a difference. But I agree with you Jennifer, a good cover will make me pick up the book and read the blurb.

It's hard not to sometimes, but since I don't shop in brick and mortar stores so much now I don't do it as often. It's usually a great review I read on all these great book blogs that get a book added to my TBR pile =)

Yep, I do too! Well, if I'm browsing books, I'm likely to pick up and check out the books with covers that appeal to me. The book description has to sound good, though, or I'm not sold on it.

I will browse through book and look at the cover, but the Title really has to jump out at me are I may not pick it up. I am big on romance and fiction.
