Summary:
A spine-tingling debut about the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse in reverse as a teen struggles to retain hope—and her sanity—while on the run from a cunning and determined killer.
Ruth Carver has always competed like her life depends on it. Ambitious. Tough. Maybe even mean. It’s no wonder people call her Ruthless.
When she wakes up with a concussion in the bed of a moving pickup truck, she realizes she has been entered into a contest she can’t afford to lose.
At a remote, rotting cabin deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ruth’s blindfold comes off and she comes face-to-face with her captor. A man who believes his mission is to punish bad girls like Ruth. A man who has done this six times before.
The other girls were never heard from again, but Ruth won’t go down easy. She escapes into the wilderness, but her hunter is close at her heels. That’s when the real battle begins. That’s when Ruth must decides just how far she’ll go in order to survive.
Back home, they called her Ruthless. They had no idea just how right they were.

Review:
Ruth Carver is one of the toughest protagonist characters I have read in a long time. She has been kidnapped by a psycho and held captive and yet she is a survivor. I don't know where she draws her strength but she is one tough cookie!
The way she thinks is very logical and detached. Although she struggles with controlling her emotions, she always seems to be in control of what she needs to do to survive. And stay focused on the task at hand. There were some decisions she made that didn't make sense to me though. Like when she finally got away from her captor and decided to go back for his truck. I wanted to knock my head into the wall and yell - WHY??? JUST GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE AND GET HELP!!
After escaping, she runs into so many problems. Like a psychological game with her captor, a lack of clothing to protect her from the elements, people who won't believe she is in danger, injuries that have yet to be treated....
It took me 24 hours to read this title. It was so hard to stop reading and get some sleep. Look to Ruthless for some fast-paced, thrilling and suspenseful action. It was an excellent heart-pumping thrill ride!
