Friday Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Each week a different
question is posted by our hosts and we wil answer! This is a great opportunity
for bloggers to network and interact.
This week’s question –
Welcome to the Paperback Princesses! Make yourself at home, take a look around our blog and let us know what you think in the comments section. We would love to hear what you have to say about our posts. We often try to comment on your comments as well so feel free to start a conversation! Since there are two of us running the show, we always have a variety of titles and event postings. Be sure to check out our own personal meme page. Check out Fantastic Fairytales, Let's Hear it for the Boys, In Case you Missed it and a few others. We try to not only focus on new YA books but also great titles from the past.
What is a book you didn’t like that all your friends raved about or what book did you love that wasn’t popular?
This wasn't a book that my friends raved about (at the time, hardly any of them read anything but textbooks) but it was a bestseller and highly recommended. I went on a trip to Vietnam with a friend and we decided to each bring a novel that we had heard good things about but had not had time to read. I chose Angela's Ashes. It was brutal. Totally depressing and I just could not find another book to read in lieu so I stuck to it thinking it would improve. I was sorely disappointed. My friend chose a book that was equally hard to get through....the books may have been bad, but they didn't stop us from having a great holiday!

I read Angela's Ashes ages ago. I liked it, but it was so sad. I haven't read anything else by Frank McCourt.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Angela's Ashes, but I've never read it.

ReplyDeleteYour post just reminded me of a book I read forever ago that really depressed me, but my friend lent it to me, thinking I'd love it as much as he did. It was The World According to Garp by John Irving. I remember feeling completely depressed by that book, but I kept plugging away because I guess I'm OCD or something and can't leave a book unfinished, lol. I haven't read Angela's Ashes, and I don't know if I will or not. It isn't high up on my tbr list.
ReplyDeleteI'm an old follower. :)
