Friday Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Each week a different question is posted by
our hosts and we wil answer! This is a
great opportunity for bloggers to network and interact.
This week’s question –
Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate — ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?
I have to admit that I usually try to stay away from reading books that I think I won't enjoy. There are way too many titles on my TBR list (and I have such limited time to read! - Christinabean
For me I think it was The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill (also known as Someone Knows My Name). I had to read it for book club and wasn't really expecting it to be anything special. I ended up being completely fascinated by it and I now recommend it regularly. It included an interesting period in Canadian history that I was totally unaware of. - Curlypow

I try to stay clear of books I don't like as well! I'm now on my way to check out your review for 'The Midnight Palace', which I still haven't read! I'm an old follower!

I actually have this really huge TBR and yet still read books I think I won't like. Argh, it's like a disease. :'D

I agree with Christinabean! My TBR is so huge and ever growing I know I'll never get to them all. So I stay away from books that don't grab my interest. Old follower :)

Hi!
ReplyDeleteJana @ A Novel Reality
I've never read that one. I'm assuming it's a Black History novel... and I don't know why, but I missed out on reading those... I moved around a lot as a kid and have these weird, gaping holes in my History education.

It feels strange to hear that so many people have not read Book of Negroes (myself included)...especially since it was an Oprah's Book club title years ago and was on the best-seller's list for so long. I guess we are all wearing our YA book goggles. haha!
