Follow Friday - November 15

Friday Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.  Each week a different question is posted by our hosts and we will answer!  This is a great opportunity for bloggers to network and interact.
This week’s question –

Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?

I can't think of any book to movie adaptations that were better than the book.  But the reason why is because we have such vivid imaginations and sometimes those concepts cannot be re-created onscreen.  There have been quite a few movies that I have seen which have influenced me to want to read the book.

  1. I know exactly what you mean about what you have in your imagination not matching up to the books. Old Bloglovin' follower. My FF

  2. I've had that happen too, but I really like to read the book first. I don't like anyone putting any ideas in my head about what the setting or characters are supposed to look like. I like to let my imagination come up with that while I'm reading. That's a big part of the reading experience for me, and once I've seen the movie, that's gone. Every time I read an Alex Cross novel, I see Morgan Freeman as Alex (although I LOVE Morgan Freeman!) And now they have a "new" Alex. I'm not sure I can get used to that!

  3. I think I agree, its really hard for me to think of any adaptations where I liked the movie better. The Bourne movies come to mind- I tried reading the books once but like a lot of older spy thrillers they seemed kind of boring, I didn't get very far. The movies though I thought were good.

  4. I too feel that ones imagination is way better than anything they can come up with on screen. It is nice to have a shortened and condensed version of some of our most beloved books. :)

  5. I couldn't think of any movies I loved more than the books either. So I chose some I thought were as good as or I enjoyed as much as the books. My F&FF.

  6. Hi,

I picked LOTR movies because they are the closest they could be to the books but I feel that its better to read books because somewhere the essence of the books is compromised when they are adapted to be a movie or a series.. :)

  7. I find it really hard to think about a movie I preffered more than the book as well, though I think The Hunger Games is the most popular answer for this question for many people.
