Follow Friday

Friday Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.  Each week a different question is posted by our hosts and we will answer!  This is a great opportunity for bloggers to network and interact.
This week’s question –

Share! Tell us about one of your hobbies that is NOT reading.

I have quite a few hobbies but unfortunately, I don't always have time for all for all of them.  I like to cross-stitch and quilt and I always have at least one project on the go.  For quilting, I tend to machine stitch the entire front and back pieces and then hand quilt it while I'm watching TV or just vegging out.  I find that hand-quilting gives the piece more of a homey feel and I have more control over how the project will be finished.  Right now I am working on a quilt for my husband.  On the back I am stitching the words to a song he quoted during his wedding vows.  On the front I appliqued circles in Asian fabric.  When I'm done, maybe I'll post a picture of it.

Another hobby I am looking into is working with metal for jewelry.  Metal stamping and creating chain mail jewelry really interests me.  Eventually I would love to open up a store on Etsy.  Perhaps I will post some photos of my work in another entry this summer.  :)

p.s. I also just wanted to send out a big shout-out to our followers (and people who just stop by for a visit).  I love reading some of your comments about our book posts and especially the Follow Friday posts (when we talk about random bits of information).  It really makes me feel connected to our audience and humbled that people are reading what we write.  I know I don't always respond to every comment that is made but I do read them and just wanted to say thank-you for following us.  :)

Welcome to the Paperback Princesses! Make yourself at home, take a look around our blog and let us know what you think in the comments section. We would love to hear what you have to say about our posts. We often try to comment on your comments as well so feel free to start a conversation! Since there are two of us running the show, we always have a variety of titles and event postings. Be sure to check out our own personal meme page. Check out Fantastic Fairytales, Let's Hear it for the Boys, In Case you Missed it and a few others. We try to not only focus on new YA books but also great titles from the past.

  1. I cross-stich too. I've always wanted to do quilting but my sewing machine needs repairs so I haven't gotten into it. I bought a book on it though. :) Have a great weekend.

  4. Those are neat hobbies! I dabbled in cross stitching with my mom when I was younger and started to make a quilt, but stopped. :( My mom still stitches a little and made all of our St Nick stockings, so I want her to make one for my fiance too (:

  5. I've got to say I'm shocked to hear that so many other people have cross-stitched. I have always been a closet cross-stitcher myself...I used to buy Cross-Stitch Gold (magazine) and do the mid-sized to large projects...uh...I still have some unfinished UFO's hidden in a box...I am also a big fan of the Mirabilla series.
